How does the tragic actor’s voice work in the theatrical space? This paper aims to focus on some episodes – narrated in the ancient sources – concerning the vocal performance. The article also considers linguistic aspects of dialects and generic constraints, as well as some well-known mistakes of pronunciation, vocal characterization of tragic main figures, and the shape of the trimeters they pronounce.
