Parabasis in Euripides and Sophocles (Pollux IV 111)?
digital

Anno:
2005
This paper considers the surprising assertion of Pollux IV 111 that Euripides and Sophocles employed parabasis in their tragedies. It proposes that, rather than having committed a simple error, Pollux is referring to passages such as the second stasimon of Euripides Heracles in which some ancient audiences and critics heard the poet’s own voice.
